Lucia: mommy, when I grow up I want to be a princess mermaid. And Olivia wants to be a princess mermaid too when she grows up.
Me: what does Lochman want to be?
Lucia: Lochman wants to be a dinosaur when he grows up.

Lucia: my heart says it just loves mommy
Me: well your heart should say it loves daddy too, and Lochman, and Olivia and Axel.
Lucia: it says it just loves mommy. Oh wait, did God give me two hearts or just one?
Me: he gave you one heart.
Lucia: is it a big heart? Or a small heart?
Me: it's big. It's super big and it's so full of love to give to everyone. It's big enough that you can love lots of people.
Lucia: well if I only have one heart than it just loves you. If God gives me another heart than I'll love daddy too.

I was nursing Axel and he was sucking with his eyes closed, as many babies eat while sleeping. Lucia was sitting next to me watching him intently.

Lucia: silly baby Axel, you better wake up because you can't take mommy's boobies to bed with you.

Lucia has been very interested in me nursing our new baby. When the twins were born she used to nurse her babies while I nursed the twins, but now she is two years older and is more aware of what's happening. She was sitting next to me on the couch the other morning and this is how our conversation went.

Lucia: mom, is baby Axel drinking all your milk gone?
Me: yes.
Lucia: you need to hurry up and drink more milk.
